Mushroom Tikka Masala Recipe Mushroom Tikka Masala, today I'm sharing restaurant style tikka masala recipe which can be tried with chicken, prawn, paneer, cauliflower or any other vegetable. I had already shared the recipe of  Chicken Tikka Masala which is also our family favorite.  To prepare tikka, you can follow either grill method or stove top method. I have used cold pressed groundnut oil to prepare tikka and used the left over oil to prepare curry. You can also try it with mustard oil or butter. If you do not like adding milk in curry, then replace it with coconut milk. We are adding cornflour dissolved water to prepare thick curry. Skip this step if you need watery curry. I had already shared the recipe of Tandoori Mushroom Tikka, you can also use the same here. Follow the method exactly and you will not get disappointed with its taste. Other mushroom based recipes, Mushroom & Soya Chunks Fried Rice Achari Mushroom Matar Pulao Tandoori Mushroom Tikka Mushroom & Spinach Biryani Mushroom Vindaloo Pepper Mushroom Gravy  Serves 3 Preparation time : 1 hour (marination) Cooking time : 40-45 mins Ingredients : For Tikka : 200 gms button mushroom - cleaned & cut into two halves 3 tbsp hung curd 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste 1/2 tsp red chili powder 1 tsp Punjabi Garam Masala 1 tsp amchur powder / dry mango powder 1/2 tsp cumin powder / jeera salt to taste For Curry : 1 medium sized onion - finely chopped 3/4 cup tomato puree 1/2 cup milk - at room temperature 1/4 cup cream (or) 2 tbsp cornflour dissolved water 1/2 tsp red chili powder 1 tsp Punjabi Garam Masala 2 tbsp kissan tomato-chili sauce 1 cup water salt to taste 1 tbsp kasoori methi / dry fenugreek leaves 4 cloves 1/2 cinnamon stick 1 bay leaf 1 tsp nutmeg powder - optional 2 tbsp butter Method : To Prepare Tikka : To make hung curd, take 1/2 cup curd and hang in a muslin cloth for 3-4 hrs. Squeeze it to remove water. Use this hung curd to prepare tikka. Combine all the ingredients mentioned under "For Tikka" in a mixing bowl and mix well everything. Keep it aside for 1 hour. If using oven, then preheat oven to 180 degree C for 10 mins in grill / broil mode. Take skewers and insert mushrooms. Place a foil sheet over baking tray and keep the skewers. Keep the tray in top rack and grill for 10 mins. After 10 mins, remove from oven and  turn over the sides. Grill again for 10-15 mins. If using stove top, then either shallow fry or deep fry marinated mushrooms till they turn golden brown. To Prepare Tikka Masala : I have used stove top method to prepare mushroom tikka. After you shallow fry them, remove tikka from oil and keep aside. Add butter in the same oil and once it appears frothy, add cloves, cinnamon and bay leaf. Add chopped onions and cook for a minute. Add ginger-garlic paste and stir well. Add tomato puree and left over tikka marination. Stir well everything and cook for 2 mins.    Add nutmeg powder, red chili powder, garam masala and saute a while. Add tomato-chili sauce and cook for 2 mins. Add 1 cup water and cook it covered for 5-8 mins. Add 1/2 cup milk and stir well. Cook it uncovered for 2 mins.   Add mushroom tikka and salt to taste. Cook it covered for 10 mins till oil separates. Add either cream or corn flour dissolved water. Stir well. Sprinkle kasoori methi and cook for another 5-8 mins. Serve with roti, naan or any other indian bread variety.
