Inspired by Mildred Pierce In this classic 1945 drama, Mildred Pierce becomes a well-to-do restaurateur, but her troubled family life continually undermines her success. Mildred is fond of baking, so we decided to make a pie — substituting pears for the more traditional apples. The fruit takes on a beautiful golden color while it bakes and boasts a honeylike taste.
